Goals
As our program has grown so have our goals! We now have a variety of tracks available to suit individual needs. Please note that not all of these goals are achievable in a single year, and some are labelled Year 2+; many of our interns stay on for multiple years to continue learning!
General Studio Knowledge - Our main goal will be to learn and experience all aspects of pottery making, including wheel/handbuilding/sculpture techniques, kiln loading/scheduling/maintenance, slip and glaze making/chemistry/use, and more
Creative Development- Exploration and honing of personal style through guided practice
Marketing and Production Training- Learn techniques to generate income through pottery making, including photography skills, customer service, pricing, and more. All interns are highly encouraged to participate in our biannual Sidewalk Sale; Year 2+ Interns will also have access to a traveling market booth for additional selling opportunities outside of the studio.
Community Outreach- Engage with the public through social media, blogging, and in person events
Instructor Training (Year 2+)- Learn to teach pottery with the potential to teach at Frederick Clay Studio
Add your goal here! We are most inspired by YOU! This program will continue to grow and shift each year with each new group. If you have a goal in mind, please include it in your application!
