Goals/ Expectations

  • Basic/Intermediate pottery and studio knowledge

  • Access to open studio, recycled clay, glazing and firing for the duration

  • Regular critiques and check ins

  • Basic business and selling- pricing, website design, photography, customer service, etc

  • Learn how to teach pottery

  • Time commitment: approximately 10hrs per week minimum (with more available) for 1 full year

 Session 1 

  • Cleaning- 1 hr per week

  • Pugging- 2+ bags or 1 hr per week

  • Join monitoring team- 6hrs per week minimum

  • Make pots and learn about pottery!

Session 2

  • Learn glaze making, safety, chemistry

Session 3

  • Learn Kiln Loading

  • Potentially join loading rotation (paid)

Session 4

  • Experiment with glazing; test and make a recipe of your choosing to keep

Session 5

  • Learn to teach - 9 hrs shadowing during beginner classes

  • Run Saturday workshops

  • Potentially teach private lessons, kids class, etc (paid)

Session 6

  • Learn kiln and wheel maintenance

  • Prepare for your final show

Session 7-10

  • Make and finish work, showtime!
